It’s a fantastic multi-purpose wireless headset, even if there are better headsets strictly for gaming.

Multiplatform connectivity with Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless.

Great, lightweight design and build quality.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X…

In the box you get the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X, a USB Type-C charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable, a USB Type-A to Type-C extender cable, and the USB Type-C wireless dongle.

Solid audio quality and battery life.

Doesn’t wow in any category at this price.

Still requires a USB dongle with Xbox.

Prime

If you’re a gamer, there’s a very good chance you’ve already heard of SteelSeries.

SteelSeries - Arctis Nova 7X…

If you’ll take full advantage of its features, then it’s well-worth the price.

The build quality is also very good.

It feels every bit like a premium mid-range $200 headset.

Best Buy

Comfort-wise, SteelSeries has made a great headset.

The Arctis Nova 7X is a comfy, well-designed, beautifully constructed headset.

Headbanging while listening to music is a no-go with this headset, sadly.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X…

That premium headset fully embraces hi-fi audio, and it sounds incredible.

The Arctis Nova 7X does not offer that same audio experience, but the DNA is there.

It’s a good sound if a little boring.

In the box you get the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X, a USB Type-C charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable, a USB Type-A to Type-C extender cable, and the USB Type-C wireless dongle.

That’s because SteelSeries went for a more neutral, natural sound profile.

It’s not tuned like a gaming headset, though, at least not to my ears.

The Arctis Nova 7X sounds perfectly good, but it’s not the best for gaming.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X: $179.99 at SteelSeries

I can hear more detail, and the things I need to hear stand out more.

This is presumably an Xbox gaming headset first, and you lose all of that control there.

Again, though, it’s justgoodand notgreat.

One of the only differences between the 7X, 7P, and regular 7 is the color of the headband. Whoops, I changed it to pink.

This is SteelSeries' ClearCast Gen 2 mic.

It’s bidirectional, supports background noise canceling, and is retractable.

That’s the biggest weakness of the Arctis Nova 7X’s mic its tendency to pick up background noise.

It’s a good looking headset, mirroring the much more premium Arctis Nova Pro without some of the extra fit and finish.

You also get simultaneous source mixing, which is a great feature and a must-have for many players.

Want to play PC games while talking on the phone?

you could do that.

The Arctis Nova 7X sounds great, but other headsets in this price range just sound better for gaming.

Playing on Xbox with Discord on your phone?

you could do that, too.

How about listening to music while playing games?

I honestly didn’t expect this mic to be as good as it is. More than serviceable for the vast majority of players.

It’s a very nice feature, and SteelSeries has done a good job implementing it.

Great Bluetooth support and audio mixing makes the Arctis Nova 7X a fantastic general-use headset.

That’s because there are basically two power buttons.

I understand why the dongle needs to exist, but it’s wide shape and need to take up one of three USB ports on my Xbox make me dislike it.

you could choose which wireless signals you need when you need them or turn on both for simultaneous audio.

It’s intuitive and works well.

I did have a few complaints about wireless connectivity, but nothing too serious.

It really is just a SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7, but with a tiny switch on the dongle for Xbox support.

The Arctis Nova 7X has good endurance and a good charging experience.

At this price, that’s perfectly reasonable and expected.

It’s a straightforward, well-rounded wireless gaming headset.

A Type-C charging port, 3.5mm audio port, mic mute switch, volume dial, audio mix dial, and power / Bluetooth buttons adorn the Arctis Nova 7X.

SteelSeries' software seems decent, but it’s also exclusive to PC.

This software is…decent.

However, none of this is exclusive to the Arctis Nova 7X or even SteelSeries headsets.

Image of the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X.

The Arctis Nova 7X lacks any notable extra features, with even SteelSeries' software being compatible with every headset.

you could use all of these features with the headset you own now.

What it is exclusive to is PC, which is a real shame.

Hopefully, this will change in the future.

In almost every way, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) is the better headset. Of course, it also doesn’t work with Xbox or have audio source mixing, which will cross it off some people’s lists.

I’ve already mentioned it a lot in this review and for good reason.

If you need Xbox support, you might also consider theTurtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX.

LucidSound headsets have some quality control concerns, though, with SteelSeries having a better reputation for durability.

I really like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X.

Razer Mice, Keyboards,…

It’s well-designed, lasts a long time, and doesn’t have any major flaws or drawbacks.

If you want one headset that can do everything for you, this is a fantastic choice.

It’s a good gaming headset that can double as your go-to pair of headphones.

The Arctis Nova 7X is a genuinely good gaming headset, but I think its real value is in its ability to double as a good pair of headphones.
