A new AI gaming feature introduced by NVIDIA for its RTX hardware is off to a terrible start.
What is NVIDIA Project G-Assist?

Project G-Assist is, in theory, a good idea, but its execution so far isn’t impressive.
This brings me to the first major sticky spot: system requirements.
RememberNVIDIA’s CES 2025keynote where it said VRAM matters less because of AI enhancements?
This allows G-Assist to run locally on GeForce RTX hardware.

Some reactions to Project G-Assist I found on Reddit.
Once G-Assist finishes its task, the GPU returns to delivering full performance to the game or app."
I found at least oneuser who explained on Reddithow the AI assistant successfully recommended and undervolted their GPU.
My colleague Richard Devine tested G-Assist on his gaming PC with an RTX 5080 Founders Edition card inside.

Devine attempted to use Project G-Assist with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Atomfall, and Avowed.
In all three cases, frame rates tanked with it enabled.
Even asking a simple question like “Is G-Sync enabled?”

The visible part of Project G-Assist is nothing more than a small pop-up window accessible in or out of games.
nearly crashed the games.
There is some good news.

You can uninstall Project G-Assist from the NVIDIA App!
