After October 2025, the operating system will stop being supported and stop receiving security updates.
Customers will need to pay $61 per rig for the first year of security updates.
It’s possible to continue to get security updates for Windows 10 after the OS reaches end of support, but it will be pricey.
That cost then doubles each year for three years.
We’ve known about theextended support program for Windows 10since late 2023.
Microsoft has been clear about the October 2025 support cutoff for years.
The Windows 11 update that will ship in May will add ads to the Recommended section of the Start menu.
As a result, people will have to pay one way or another to use a secure system.
The bug has since been fixed, so Microsoft lifted the compatibility hold.

The update made many yearn for more new content for Minecraft.
