That’s not to say I don’t find theSurface Duo 2to be an incredibly interesting gear.
I own an original Surface Duo, and the form factor and design are endlessly fascinating.

No foldable quite possesses the unique charm or appeal of the Surface Duo 2.
One company that deliberately chose to forge its own path, however, was Microsoft.

The idea of a portable, entertainment-suited tablet was traded for the ultimate machine for multitasking on the go.

No foldable quite possesses the unique charm or appeal of the Surface Duo 2.
For that reason, I fully understand Microsoft’s decision to merge Duo’s displays into one foldable screen.
Microsoft now has to compete with the already entrenched market leader for foldables.
I’m not confident, but my doubt goes a little deeper than that.

The Surface Duo 2’s dual screens offer something fundamentally different to foldable smartphones.
The Duo 2 wasso closeto convincing me to pull the trigger.
However, it had nothing to do with the overall form factor.
At least I still have theLenovo YogaBook 9i dual-screen laptopto drool over.

I still want to believe that there’s space in the world for both of these devices.
If Lenovo is feeling generous, I’d like mine in blue.

Two great smartphones, for very different reasons.

I love my Z Fold4, but I’ll miss what the Surface Duo 3 could’ve been.
