So whenMonster Hunter Wildswas announced, I was ecstatic.
Focus Mode allows you to redirect your melee attacks mid-animation so you dont miss.

Monster Hunter is all about fighting monsters that crush you into paste, yet in Monster Hunter Wilds they are about as weak as a puppy.
Plus, Wounds appear and refresh too rapidly, so you never run out of chances to stun-lock enemies.
Another new mechanic that oversimplifies combat is the Seikret mount.
At best, the strongest attacks from most enemies did maybe 15% of my health.

Sadly, its a situation that never happens in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Unfortunately, this non-existent difficulty pertained even in High Rank Quests.
When you take away the fear, you take away the adrenaline.

Focus Strike can trivialize combat way instantly without much effort.
Additionally, these warning signs are so annoyingly distracting because they take up huge portions of the screen.
Not only did they obscure my vision, they broke my immersion in the heat of battle.
Monster Hunter Wilds takes it even further backward because it doesnt even have a High Rank exclusive final boss.

Seikret can get you pretty much out of dodge in any situation without consequences.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds salvageable?
As much as I hate this games flaws, it does have some great qualities and a lot ofpotential.
One can onlyhope, right?

Even monsters who dominated in past games like Gravios are not given the challenging battles they deserve in Monster Hunter Wilds

Arkveld is one of the few monsters in this game that actually provided me with a decent challenge to warrant upgrading my gear.

I don’t need a distracting heartbeat on my healthbar to know I’m fighting a monster that can kill me at any moment.

The fact that we have to fight the flagship again as the final boss of High Rank instead of an original, Elder Dragon-level threat like in past games frustrates me to no end.

Not even Layered Armor can make up for Monster Hunter Wilds' lackluster difficulty and endgame content.

Insanely detailed and animated monsters like Nu Udra are worth the price of admission at least once for Monster Hunter fans.

The fact Jin Dahaad is one of the few ‘Siege’ size monsters that’s actually fun fighting shows that there is awesome game within Monster Hunter Wilds.

With proper balancing and huge difficulty buffs, it would make moments like being able to block a Gravio’s laser breath feel more satisfying since you would risk dying in one hit to earn that epic moment.

At we come to the end of my long-winded vent about Monster Hunter Wilds.

Airing grievances is exhausting. Time to sleep until the first Title Update arrives in Spring.
