What sets it apart is the inclusion of hall-effect sticks and two additional rear buttons for customizable remapping.

Something too many mobile controller manufacturers leave out.
The pivoting USB-C connector does just that.

No friction, no problem.
Other thoughtful touches include a rubberized base to stop the phone from sliding around inside the unit.
It’s still handy to have if your primary interest is mobile games.

Firstly, the triggers and bumpers leave something to be desired.
Despite boasting advanced technology, they feel somewhat cheaply constructed.
The triggers lack the satisfying tactile feedback I prefer, emitting a hollow sound when pressed fast and repeatedly.

My second niggle here is the controller’s size, which impacts its portability.
The lack of accommodation for folding phones remains a challenge across the mobile controller market.
Similar to the MOGA, the Galileo immediately impressed me with its comfort and well-sized controls.

The GameSir G8 Galileo turns your phone into a proper handheld gaming unit.

The full-size handles of the GameSir G8 Galileo make it incredibly comfortable to use.

The GameSir G8 Galileo has two remappable buttons on the rear.

The GameSir G8 Galileo boasts hall sensor triggers but they still feel a little ‘cheap’.

My Samsung S23 Ultra fits in perfectly, but you won’t be able to use this with a folding phone.

The MOGA XP7-X Plus has a similar shape and size, but fails when it comes to features and ultimately didn’t impress me much.

I still have a soft spot for the Turtle Beach Atom, it’s a quirky design that clips together when not in use so easy to throw in a bag.

This controller pretty much turns my phone into an ‘Xbox portal’.
