The Hall Effect sticks ensure longevity and GameSir remains the cheapest brand to offer this tech.
While there are no trigger stops, this is still a top contender for wired gaming.
Without further ado, let’s go through what is different about the GameSir G7 HE.

Playing mainly on Steam Deck, Xbox and PC, Jen prefers to collect controllers over shoes and handbags.
This review was made possible thanks to a review sample provided by GameSir.
GameSir had no input nor saw the contents of this review prior to publication.

There are currently 3 colours, Black, White and an Iron Man special edition.
However, after spending time with the HE, I can confidently say the upgrades are worth it.
In fact, my beloved G7 SE has now been relegated to the shelf in favor of this version.

The G7 HE sat next to it’s predecessor, the G7 SE in white.
The buttons are simply glorious.
More importantly, theyre more precise and significantly more durable.
The G7 HE also carries over some fantastic features from the G7 SE, including the hall-effect sticks.

The anti-friction rings are also present, allowing the sticks to glide smoothly.
While its a small change, its noticeable.
So why did I give it a 4 out of 5 when the older model scored 4.5?

The GameSir G7 HE is a simple but effective design, not straying far from the official Xbox controller.
Well, it’s been two years since we looked at the SE G7.
The reality is that most Xbox gamers prefer wireless options, especially if you have kids or pets around.
Third-party wireless Xbox controllers are becoming more common, albeit at much higher price points.

I suspect this isnt entirely GameSirs fault.
Id bet Microsoft ensures these third-party wireless options remain higher priced than their own controllers.
I cant ignore that, no matter how much I love their work.

If you have the SE you’ll notice the buttons to lock the rear buttons have gone(Image credit: Jennifer Young - Windows Central)
We even recommend it over Xbox own Elite series of controllers.
This controller also features a cutting-edge stick technology called TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance).
Also comes in Phantom Black.

GameSir have removed the ability to lock the rear buttons in place, which is something I appreciated.
After all, its predecessor scored a 4.5, and the G7 HE comes with so many small improvements.
Its definitely worth our recommendation.

The PDP Gaming Minecraft controller is currently the cheapest wireless offering from a third party at under $80 but it doesn’t have the hall effect and microswitch tech of the GameSir G7 HE

The G7 HE improves on the SE in a few ways, and for that it’s fantastic, but it’s 2025 and we are still waiting for GameSir to come to the wireless table for Xbox
